Fallas

Experience Valencia’s Most Famous Festival

The Fallas festival, "La Plantà," begins on March 15th. This is the date that marks the start of Valencia's most important festival.

In March, you can enjoy more than just Fallas monuments, music, fireworks, flowers, and people who forget to sleep for days. For many, the Fallas are tradition, community, art, and family. The ground and walls reverberate with the mascletàs at midday in Valencia's City Hall Square. The gunpowder is palpable, the sound envelops a square full of people with goosebumps, and for a few minutes, Valencia comes to a standstill.

Each Falla represents the passionate and dedicated work of hundreds of Falla artists, who meticulously attend to every detail of design, sculpture, carpentry, painting, and assembly, transforming Valencia into an adorned city with enormous monuments that express satire, humour, love, or social commentary.

On the night of March 19, “La Cremà”, amidst fire, music and emotion, the monuments burn after a string of firecrackers, bringing the festival to an end, and the falleros mix emotion with nostalgia for what they have experienced.

Colorful illuminated parade float featuring mythical and fantasy characters, including women with horns, animals, and fantastical creatures, set against a dark night sky.
